READING
Week
of August 22: We will begin our reading series Reading Street. Our first story is “Boom Town”. The target comprehension skill and strategy
for the week will be activating and using prior knowledge to distinguish
between realism and fantasy
Week
of August 29: We will be reading “What About Me?”. The target
comprehension skill and strategy for the week will be determining the
sequence of events in a story and summarizing important events in
sequence.
** Please look for the Family
Times that will go home every Monday to assist you with studying reading
at home. The questions that will be on
the weekly selection tests do not only deal with basic comprehension of the
story; they also deal with the target skills and strategies of the week. Vocabulary terms will be assessed and
graded separately from the weekly selection test. Vocabulary terms and
definitions can be found on the Family
Times. Reading tests will have 2 separate grades on them: vocabulary (V)
and comprehension (C). These will
count as 2 assessment grades.
